President, Rotary Year 2026–27

A year of service with lasting impact, and fellowship with lasting memories.

Dear Rotarians and Members of the Rotary Club of Pune University Family,

Warm greetings! It is with profound gratitude and great humility that I accept the privilege of serving as the President of our beloved Rotary Club of Pune University for the Rotary Year 2026–27. I sincerely thank each one of you for the trust and confidence you have placed in our Board of Directors and in me. We consider this not merely an honour, but a responsibility to serve our Club and our community with dedication, integrity and passion.

As we step into the 24th year of our Club's remarkable journey, we proudly celebrate a legacy created by our Charter Members, Past Presidents, and every Rotarian whose selfless service has touched countless lives. We are inspired by their vision and committed to carrying that legacy forward with renewed energy and fresh ideas.

I envision this year as a year of service with lasting impact and fellowship with lasting memories. While our service initiatives will focus on Education, Water, and Health, our broader goal is to build sustainable projects that continue to transform lives long after this Rotary year concludes. We also aspire to significantly enhance our service capacity by executing Global Grants projects, CSR partnerships and non-Rotary funding, enabling us to dream bigger and serve better.

This year will also mark a new chapter in the Internationalization of our Club. Through meaningful collaborations with Rotary clubs and institutions worldwide, we aim to create global service projects, educational partnerships, international visits, and student internship opportunities that broaden our horizons while strengthening Rotary's spirit of international understanding.

Equally important is our commitment to strengthening the heart of our Club — our members and their families. Rotary is much more than meetings and projects; it is a family united by friendship and shared values. We shall create more opportunities to come together through innovative meetings, fellowship events, family gatherings, picnics, travel, and joyful celebrations that deepen relationships and create lifelong memories. My sincere wish is that every member feels valued, every family feels connected, and every Rotary meeting becomes an occasion to look forward to.

One of our proudest initiatives this year will be the launch of long-term Signature Service Projects, envisioned to continue beyond a single Presidential term. Designed with continuity in mind, this initiative will lay the foundation for an enduring legacy that future Presidents and members will continue to nurture for years to come. The true strength of our Club has never been its President — it has always been its members. Every idea, every hour of service, and every act of kindness contributes to making Rotary meaningful. I warmly invite each of you to participate wholeheartedly, share your talents, inspire new ideas, and join us in shaping one of the most memorable years in our Club's history.

Together, let us build stronger friendships, create greater happiness, serve with compassion, and leave behind a legacy that reflects the very best of Rotary. Thank you once again for your trust, your friendship, and your unwavering commitment to Service Above Self. I look forward to serving alongside each one of you in this exciting journey.

With warm regards,

Dr. Tushar Vinod Deoras

A Taste of Learning: Creamery Cheese Factory Visit

As part of RCPU's July fellowship and vocational exposure activities, members and families visited the Creamery Cheese Factory at Urawade, Pune.

Create Lasting Impact

Rotary's theme for the year: service that changes lives long after the project ends — and changes us in the process.

We often share how Rotary inspires lasting change in others, but we rarely discuss how it transforms us.

Dear friends,

Rotary has changed my life, and I'm willing to bet that it has changed yours too. It expands our world, enriches our understanding of service, creates international friendships, and grounds us. It teaches us to see, to look beyond ourselves.

Think about our Vision Statement: Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Those final words of our Vision Statement are at the heart of what it means to Create Lasting Impact.

We often share how Rotary inspires lasting change in others, but we rarely discuss how it transforms us. We must consider how Rotary has changed our lives and share our stories widely. If we can do that, we will engage current members, expand our reach, and forge exciting connections with like-minded partners. We must embrace Rotary's global diversity and build a welcoming culture, one where fresh perspectives are embraced, new ideas are celebrated, and differences are met with curiosity and kindness instead of judgement. If we can do that, we will meet our membership goals and continue to grow.

And finally, we must reaffirm our commitment to service. We must think bigger, understanding our struggles as interconnected and leveraging our connections to make global progress. If we can do that, we will be one step closer to a world free of polio, a world where everyone has access to clean water and a quality education — a world at peace.

Let us continue to inspire one another and seek innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. I look forward to working alongside you in service.

Warm regards,

Olayinka H. Babalola

District Governor 2026–27, District 3131

Let us not be remembered for the number of projects we did, but for the number of lives we changed.

My Dear President and Fellow Rotarians,

As we welcome Rotary Year 2026–27, Dr. Neelam and I extend our warm greetings and best wishes to you and your families. Guided by Rotary International's theme, "Create Lasting Impact," let us focus on service that truly transforms lives. Behind every Rotary project is a story — a child receiving clean water, an elderly person regaining sight through cataract surgery, a young person gaining skills and confidence, or a family becoming self-reliant through livelihood support.

These are not just projects; they are life-changing moments. This is the true impact of Rotary. District 3131 has always been known for its energy, leadership, and service.

This year, let us strive for Maximum Projects, Maximum Beneficiaries, and Maximum Impact. To achieve this, we must strengthen the backbone of Rotary — The Rotary Foundation and Membership. We encourage every Rotarian to lead by example through Foundation giving, inviting new members, and actively involving Rotaractors and young leaders who will carry Rotary's mission into the future.

We also invite every club to participate wholeheartedly in our district initiatives such as Project Sanjeevani, Traffic 360, and Fusion Meetings, where together we can create larger and more meaningful impact. A special congratulations to all our Club Presidents, our partner in leadership. Over the years, we have dreamt of bigger projects and stronger clubs. Now is the time to turn those dreams into reality. We request every Rotarian to support your President and Board, participate actively, and work together as one team. When a President succeeds, the club succeeds. When clubs succeed, District 3131 succeeds.

Let us enjoy this Rotary year with our families and friends, strengthen fellowship, serve with passion, and create memories that will last a lifetime. "Let us not be remembered for the number of projects we did, but for the number of lives we changed. Let our work speak so powerfully that communities don't just see Rotary — they feel its impact."

Wishing you a successful, joyful, and impactful Rotary Year 2026–27.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Rtn. Nitin S. Dhamale
