Rotary Mentor for Employability was initiated with Jagruti Blind School as one of RCPU’s important inclusion and employability initiatives. The project focuses on helping the girls understand their abilities, identify suitable career and employment directions, and receive mentoring that can help them transition towards greater independence and employability. During the initial interaction, the club leadership and project team found the school’s infrastructure and students’ capabilities particularly encouraging. The discussion focused on conducting a psychometric assessment of the girls. It was observed that the students can respond very effectively with suitable practice and accessible technology, and that the assessment need not necessarily be converted into Braille if computer accessibility and appropriate support are used. The school has 83 girls, and the assessment is planned in batches in the computer laboratory. The Skill Centre in-charge will conduct the testing and provide feedback, which will help the Rotary team identify individual strengths and suitable areas for further mentoring, skill development and employment preparation.
