Sagar Mitr – Plastic Collection & Recycling Initiative

Sagar Mitr was launched as a school-based plastic collection and recycling initiative, connecting environmental responsibility with student participation. The programme encourages students to collect plastic waste and understand the importance of responsible disposal and recycling. The initiative is especially relevant because it converts environmental awareness into a continuing activity. By involving students through an Interact platform, RCPU is creating an opportunity for young people to become active participants in environmental service rather than only recipients of an awareness message.

Date: 15 July 2026. Location: M.H. Patel School, Pune. Status: Launched / Ongoing. Beneficiaries: Students and the school community participating in plastic collection and recycling. Impact: Creates an ongoing mechanism for students to convert environmental awareness into actual plastic collection and responsible recycling. Team contribution: RCPU environment/youth teams, the Interact Club and school coordinators; add student leaders when confirmed.
